William at 11 weeks old/39 weeks adjusted age

I know I am late on this update, but there really isn't too much to update as William was being a little stubborn boy this past week who did not progress much on his feeds until today. So...his feeding tube was removed today(!) to see how much he does take and how much weight he gains as he has started to consistently take his full feeds by mouth after the doctors changed his formula (he received half formula for extra nutrients and half breast milk) to only be enhanced to 21 calories overall instead of 22. Little chunk still needs to gain some stamina so that he can come home!

Yes, I said little chunk. William is now 8 pounds and 19 inches long. He has officially tripled his birth weight. I never thought my little preemie would be wearing 0-3 month sized onesies upon discharge.

Since William will be discharged during cold and flu season, he received his first RSV shot. He will continue to get one per month until the season is over.

William had his first MRI of his brain as a follow up to the brain bleeds he experienced during the first week of his life. We don't really know much except that 25 percent of his cerebellum is damaged from where the bleeding occurred. The cerebellum is responsible for things like balance and coordination; therefore, William will see a neurologist as part of his high risk follow up. William may experience very little difficulties as a result of the damage or they could be a much larger issue for him as he learns to sit up, crawl, walk, etc. Only time will tell.....
