Time to be a big boy....

So being back on full feeds must be the key to packing on the pounds quickly (makes sense, huh?) as William weighed in at 6 pounds, 2 ounces tonight. He has officially outgrown the majority of his preemie attire, and the picture above shows him in newborn attire for the first time - the newborn clothes look on him like the preemie clothes used to so I can only imagine how quickly he will fill out the current creases. I am beginning to think that William may be ten pounds before we get to take him home.

Speaking of feeds, William's feeds are being consolidated into larger doses administered over shorter periods of time. So now rather than receiving 20 milliliters per hour continuously in his feeding tube, he is receiving 62 milliliters continuously for two hours with a one hour break between feeds. He is also trying more and more tastes with the pacifier and bottle to help transition him to feeding by mouth.

William's original due date was February 19, which is about three and a half weeks away. Will he be home by then? What do you think?

  1. Okay, my guess is February 22nd. Did you bring him a picture of his room, yet? I agree that he needs some Mickey Mouse inspiration!

  2. Good idea, Beth! He needs a picture of his room on his bed for him to see!
